No vacuum cleaner is perfect. Almost all vacuum cleaners have design flaws that create problems. Perhaps the biggest problem is that as the filter bag fills with dirt, there is less airflow and suction. This problem even shows up in bagless vacuums because the filters become clogged as the canister fills with dirt, dust, and pet hair.

The worst feature most vacuums have is that they have bags that eventually get clogged and restrict airflow. All bags and filters are porous. All bags, cloth or paper, have small vent holes that allow air to flow through them. When there is a dirt particle larger than the air hole, the particle clogs the hoe and restricts the free flow of air. Eventually, the entire surface of the bag or filter becomes covered with this dust. The airflow slows down drastically and this is why your vacuum loses suction when the bag or filter becomes clogged.

That restricted airflow is what causes motors to overheat. The Air-Storm vacuum cleaner has an airflow system that constantly keeps the surface of the bag clean, allowing constant airflow and no loss of suction. As air enters the bag chamber, the angle of the airflow actually cleans the back of the bag, allowing unrestricted air to reach the engine and exit through the exhaust. The Air-Storm vacuum cleaner’s casing is made from a nearly indestructible resin material that never warps when heated.

The Air-Storm’s metal motor is a pleasant surprise. Metal is more durable than plastic and is a conductor of heat. As heat is generated in the motor, it is dissipated outside the interior of the motor. This prevents the bearings from drying out. Metal motors are much more durable than plastic motors. Most manufactured vacuum cleaners and all the ones you buy at discount stores have plastic motors.

Remember the Hoover vacuum cleaner your grandmother had for 50 years? She lasted because she had a metal engine and metal parts. Most vacuum cleaners aren’t built as well anymore.

The Air-Storm cleaning system also has two HEPA filters that prevent dust from escaping through the exhaust. One of the HEPA filters is optional and not included in the standard package.

Air-Storm tools have perforated air holes, called “venturi air vents” that allow constant airflow into the tools. This is especially helpful if your upholstery is coated with Scotchguard. If your tools cut off the airflow, you won’t be able to pick up dirt on the tool. Other vacuums also have similar vents on the tools; Riccar, Tri-Star, and Carpet Pro also use some form of air vets on the tools.

The Air-Storm vacuum is made in the USA in California and is the best designed vacuum we have ever seen. My only complaint is that the carpet tool, or power nozzle (as it’s called) is from a manufacturer that has parts not available at most retailers. At $1,895 retail, it’s not cheap, but. The Air-Storm receives our recommendation.

I’ve seen the Air-Storm sell for less online, but a local dealer could service it much more easily than an internet seller. You always want to buy from an authorized dealer to ensure warranty service will be provided.
