If your body naturally burned more calories every hour of the day (not just when you exercise), losing weight would be much easier. That’s exactly what naturally increasing your metabolism can do. Lucky for you, there are plenty of easy ways to kick-start your metabolism.

drink it all

There are a couple of things you can sip to speed up your metabolism. The first is green tea, and the second is water. Both are great for you, and you should be drinking them for reasons other than speeding up your metabolism, but each will make you burn calories at an accelerated rate for about thirty minutes after drinking them.

That’s right, eating and eating often actually helps speed up metabolism. Eating 6 small meals a day is really what you should be aiming for, but as long as you start eating more often (not more, just more often) then your metabolism will start to speed up. You should mix in some protein and fiber at each meal. They take longer to digest and your body has to work harder to extract the nutrients from them.

Heat

Can a runny nose really jump-start your metabolism? If you’re going to get it the right way, then yes. Any type of hot pepper (jalapeños, habaneros, cayenne peppers) will wake up your metabolism. The effects don’t last long, up to thirty minutes, but who cares? Any kick you can get helps. Plus, if you’re like me, you don’t need an excuse for your eyes to start watering and your nose to runny. It’s delicious!

Stand up…

…And start walking. A little exercise during the day will go a long way. If you get up and walk for about 20 minutes, your metabolism will reward you by burning the extra fat even after you’re done.
