I never expected to lose so much in such a short time. It was crazy unexpected, so I decided to get a check-up to make sure everything was okay. And I’m glad I’m okay.
The doctor said that it is not very ideal to lose so much in such a short time, but what I did, in general, was healthy. He just added that I shouldn’t eat fruits as my main meal, but only as a snack, dessert, or snacks.
Just to give you an idea of what I did, see below. Just take note of what the doctor said about the fruits. And also note that I combined this diet with my regular yoga session. And buy a scale so you can monitor your progress (or go back!) Every day!
Good luck!
First week:
I lost 10 pounds in my first week. I didn’t follow any diet plan, but I just avoided a lot of things:
1. Soft drinks / iced tea
2. Appetizers (great sacrifice since I am a great snack eater)
3. Candy! cakes, candies, gum, ice cream, desserts …
4. Reduce my rice consumption
5. Reduce my meat consumption
But I ate the following:
- Fruits! I never realized they taste so good! I love grapefruit!
- Vegetables! Vegetables all you want!
- Water water water … I love water in all its splendor
- Corn! My reward!
Second week:
I lost another 10 pounds. And this was the week I realized I was no longer a size XL and no waist 38! But I had to stick with available clothing as I felt like I would lose more in the next few weeks and it would be a waste to go shopping.
This time, I was on a diet plan and tried the General Motors diet (suggested by a colleague).
Read on the Internet that General Motors Company (GM) prepared this diet plan for its employees to promote a healthy life. But some said this was GM’s way of lowering your health insurance … you don’t need one if you’re healthy, right?
For whatever reason it was designed for, I decided to use it. If something promises you to lose 10 to 17 pounds of weight in a week, would you turn it down? I do not!
Here it is ….
I did not drink alcohol this week and I drank a lot of water!
Day one: all fruits except bananas.
Day two: all veggies, but started the day with mashed potatoes (minus the KFC sauce).
Day three: a mixture of fruits and vegetables. No banana or potato.
Day four: 8 bananas and 3 glasses of milk (without fat). I combined this with Knorr Chicken Soup for lunch.
Day Five – I had beef and tomatoes! And increased my water intake.
Sixth day: beef and vegetables.
Day Seven – Brown rice and vegetables. More mango juice from Fruitas.
Third to eight weeks:
Weight loss slowed over the next few weeks. I was almost always losing 1 pound a day. There were even times when I didn’t lose anything at all. But in the next 6 weeks, I lost a total of 20 pounds.
To be honest, I struggled with the GMO diet. Thinking about it now, I was very surprised how the heck I did it. So I decided to go back to my diet plan from the first week, but replaced my white rice with brown or red rice. Also, I kept avoiding the list I mentioned above. And yes, corn made a comeback as my daily reward.
Overall, I lost a total of 40 pounds in 75 days! And from XL, now I’m mostly medium (sometimes L) and a size 38, I’m mostly a size 34 (or 33).
And I look different! Some people say I look different bad, but others say I look different good. It’s okay. It’s his opinion. Most importantly for me, I think I look very different. And I feel different good. I don’t get tired easily and I can play 3 sets of badminton without stopping. Woot woot!
I think the most important lesson here is discipline and determination. Discipline will keep you focused and determination will be your fuel to reach that goal.
Get fit and stay healthy!
