Natural Cleaning – Hydrogen Peroxide Vs Chlorine Bleach with Chlorine

Regular hydrogen peroxide (H202) found at your local drug store or grocery store for less than two dollars a bottle is helpful in surprising ways and can completely replace the smelly chemical, chlorine bleach.

The simple chemical compound, H202 is water with an extra oxygen atom and has wonderful oxidizing properties (this means that only through extra oxygen it has cleaning and disinfecting power, no chemicals required).

Historically, chlorine bleach was developed as part of the military’s arsenal of chemical weapons in the 1940s before World War II, the wonderful period of time that also gave us petrochemical pesticides, byproducts of nerve gases from World War II. .

Hydrogen peroxide (H202), on the other hand, came into use earlier, in the 1920s during World War I, as a non-toxic solution, to clean hospitals and meet the sanitary needs of troops.

Any type of decontamination that comes to mind with chlorine bleach can be done in a healthier and safer way with H2O2; as it can serve many cleaning, disinfecting and also body and wound detoxification purposes.

For most uses, a basic commercial bottle of H202 is sufficient, and is readily available almost anywhere, something that can be kept in the home as a replacement for many cleaning and disinfecting supplies.

Food grade hydrogen peroxide (no preservatives) is available but should be kept refrigerated and always diluted to 3-5% before use (caution: in concentrated form can be dangerous – can cause burns). There are a few reports of the successful use of food grade H2O2 to eliminate conditions that promote disease.

Clean out your closets!

It’s time to let go of some of those nasty old cleaning compounds that have littered our home cupboards, that don’t need to be in the landfill, don’t need to be in our lungs or on our skin.

It really is time we consider what we are buying, its effect on the earth, why we are buying it (convinced by advertising?), what does it do to us when we breathe it in, put it on our skin?

TIP: Did you know that anything we put on our skin shows up in our organs 56 seconds later? Think about it!

Try non-toxic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for the following uses:

1. Put hydrogen peroxide on your damp kitchen sponge to clean countertops, sinks, stoves, tables.

2. Add H202 to water in a spray bottle; use it to clean windows, no streaks.

3. Use diluted, to clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures – replace those toxic disinfectants; use H2O2 on the toilet brush (save the septic system).

4. Add it to white clothes to lighten, remove stains (it can stain with H2O2 but it can affect the color, so use with caution).

5. Add to mop bucket simply with water for sparkling clean floors. (or use vinegar/water – nice).

6. Add to water to clean your compost bucket – soak and sprinkle – no odor, no staining.

7. Soak toothbrushes in a cup of water with a couple of tablespoons of H2O2 to kill germs.

Anywhere you consider chlorine bleach or other disinfectant cleaner, try non-toxic hydrogen peroxide. You’ll be amazed at the cleaning compounds you can do without!
