HTC Droid Eris – A Quick Review

Design: The design of this cell phone model is very similar to that of the HTC Hero. The HTC Droid Eris does not come with a slide-out keyboard, as it uses a virtual keyboard on its touch screen. The black casing, rounded edges, and soft-touch finish give it a classic, elegant look. This model is quite slim, measuring 4.45 x 2.19 x 0.51 inches and weighing just 4.23 ounces. Despite its size, the phone feels very solid.

Characteristic: The 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen (HVGA) was a joy to use. It has a resolution of 320 x 480 and displays crisp and sharp images. In general, it is very responsive and easy to use. Another cool feature of the HTC Droid Eris is that it comes with a proximity sensor. When you hold the phone close to your face to make/receive a call, the screen will automatically turn off to prevent accidental dialing (by touching your cheek). It also has an accelerometer that automatically switches the screen from landscape to portrait and vice versa. In addition to using the touch screen, you can also use the four navigation buttons and a trackball below the screen to navigate your phone.

Performance: Through our tests, the quality of the calls made was very good. Browsing the web and watching YouTube videos was pretty smooth, and photos taken with its built-in camera (5MP) were decent. This model has a 528Mhz MSM7600 processor. Overall, the HTC Droid Eris is a very decent Android phone. It has tons of features and best of all, it comes with a very decent price. At the moment, you can get an HTC Droid Eris for just $9.99 (with a service plan).
