When I first read the story, I was more interested to know about the reason why one should be preparing only roths or typical Kashmiri pancakes on special festivals. However, when I understood the implication and the hidden message behind the story, there were no limits to my happiness. It was at that moment that I decided that I would write about this extraordinary message behind the pious celebrations in Kashmiri families.
According to the story, she is the young woman who hides behind the tree and watches all the ritual performances of the Divine Goddesses in the jungle. These divine beings needed a young woman to perform and complete their religious ritual. They perceived her and invited her to be part of the final ritual. The young woman was a great observer and she learned the entire procedure only in the first instance. They shared with her the purpose of the great ritual on her part and how they perform it every year without fail. She learned and understood the ritual steps from them. The divines offered him gifts and gold coins. She returned home and shared the entire episode with her poor parents. They did not believe her and mistreated her very badly.
This was not the end of the story. The young woman was also adamant and she wanted to help them. The following year, she performed the same ritual similar to how the Goddesses did and her wishes were immediately granted. Unfortunately, her parents didn’t realize the truth. Once again they punished her badly. The Goddesses would appear in her dreams and explain to them the importance of the ritual and how her daughter was pure and pious to perform it absolutely correctly. They woke up and realized her own mistake. That is the start of good times for them, as well as other individual families who performed and participated in the ritual annually. This was the beginning of her EARNINGS OF A YOUNG GIRL and HOW HE HELPED HER PARENTS.
