Last summer I replaced the windows in my house with new double pane windows. As usual, the old windows ended up in my garage. This is where it all ends, either as a temporary or permanent stop. Garages are ideal for storing things. The problem is that now there is not enough space for the car. My poor little stroller ends up staying out in the open all night, rain or shine. I can tell that the car is aging faster than when it was being protected.
We are in the middle of autumn right now, and the leaves are falling at a record rate. Combine the leaves with the fall rain and we have some nasty rotten stuff oozing all over the car paint. I decided to build a carport to alleviate the problem of protecting the car. I just needed some simple carport plans, and was about to try to draw them myself when some friends started telling me about all the things I needed to consider putting on the drawings, like load-bearing columns, slab thickness, and steel bars. truss configuration for roof load and hardware to secure trusses to carport joists.

That’s when I decided that a set of simple garage plans wasn’t so simple that I could tackle that part of the job myself. In fact, he needed what are commonly called blueprints. They also included as a bonus a supply list that will save me a lot of trips back and forth from the local store.
