Size does matter with the HTC Titan

It seems that 2011 is a year for smartphones. Mobile phone companies have been busy releasing one model after another. With all the Android phones that have been dominating the market, HTC Corp. is not lagging behind in the game with its new HTC Titan.

HTC Titan plans to give customers the wow factor with its huge 4.7 display screen. These phones are housed in a carbon black aluminum case with dimensions of 131.5 x 70.7 x 9.9mm. The rear has a matte surface, while the front features a glossy touch screen. HTC Titan weighs more at 160g compared to recently launched competitor smartphones. However, the phone compromises its bulk with the sleek and slim design it offers. These phones retain the rounded edges of their predecessor, the HTC HD7, to maximize comfort.

HTC Titan has some improvements in terms of speed and resolution. Viewing images and loading apps are faster with the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phone offers 512 RAM and storage capacity of up to 16 GB.

The model is the first phone to carry the flagship Windows 7. This operating system for phones is designed to provide silky-smooth streaming of web services such as popular social networking sites, cloud computing and messaging systems. Multitasking is another feature that Windows Phone Mango will bring to HTC Titan users. It is possible to switch back and forth between applications without restarting. Another thing worth mentioning about HDC Titan is its distinctively styled menus that users can customize to suit their needs.

Browsing the Internet is possible on Titan with Internet Explorer 9 integration. Users can send email and manage their contact list through linked inboxes.

HTC Titan will delight users with its 8 MP resolution camera located on the back and a 1.3 MP front camera. Taking pictures can be a problem when it comes to mobile phones as users have to unlock the phone first. HTC Titan gets around this by including a separate camera button. Low-light environments can still be captured realistically with the phones backlight sensor. For better panoramic shots, HTC Titan has an app that makes a line appear on the phone’s screen to guide users in producing perfect images. Shooting high-density 720p video is possible with the f/2.2 aperture lens. In addition, users could also have the model pre-loaded with the Tango chat app.

Sound quality when making phone calls on the Titan isn’t bad. Calls are crystal clear, and a speakerphone is available through a simple long-press action. HTC Titan provides users with a contact storage capacity of up to 10,000 entries that can be personalized through images, ringtones and additional information such as birthdays, email and others.

Using the phone for extended periods is not a problem with the Titan. This model has a 1600 mAh lithium-ion battery that can last 11.83 hours of continuous talk time and 360 hours of standby time.

Smartphone fans have a lot to look forward to from the Titan. Truly, these phones are not only big in size but also when it comes to features.
