Dinnerware sets are not only used for dinner parties as the word says. Crockery refers to the set of plates, bowls, spoon and fork or in simple terms it refers to the plates. Plates are used for eating and for serving food. A person who loves to cook and adores food wants their dishes to be useful and keep longer. We will go over the different types of tableware that are available today.
There are times when tableware is not used just for serving food or eating. Sometimes it is locked in a properly arranged cabinet with a specially designed shelf to keep them in place. When I went to my grandmother’s house for a birthday party, I went to her kitchen to help her prepare the food. I saw many plates and bowls, different types and designs of spoons and forks, all displayed in a beautiful old wooden cabinet. I asked if I can wash those dishes and use them for the guests. She disagrees and says that those plates are valuable and have never been used and are only for display because it is her collection and it costs a fortune.
In addition to displaying expensive dishes in cabinets, a chef, for example, wants his dinnerware to be durable or depend on the event and its uses. Paper plates, for example, are more convenient and affordable for picnics than using a heavy ceramic plate. Ceramic plates, on the other hand, are used for display or on special occasions like a formal dinner. Our ancestors used a carved stone or wood as a plate. Although stones are no longer used today, wooden plates are still used in some restaurants to accompany the theme. Plastic plates are more popular nowadays in most households due to their durability, they are cheaper and lighter when washed.
Also, the spoon and fork are usually made of plastic or metal. Plastic spoon and fork, like paper plates, are used at picnics and parties because they are lighter and more convenient. The metal spoon and fork are used at home and in restaurants. Some restaurants do not provide spoon and fork, either they are Chinese and Japanese restaurants or they want their food to be eaten by hand. There is a more modern utensil today which is a combination of a spoon and fork which they call a spork. Spork looks more like a spoon but has spikes on the end.
Dinnerware sets or plates today come in different shapes and types that serve different purposes. So make sure if you are buying one that it will fit your needs whether it is used or just for a display.
