Turn on your bowling alley: understand your brain

Today we are going to talk about your brain. Many people just don’t fully understand their brain and manipulate their brain for their benefit. People generally only understood that your brain weighs about 31 pounds, it is divided into two halves, one right and one left, each half of the brain has different functions.

That’s all they know about your brain.

Did you know?

– Your mind mirrors the physical brain and operates from these two hemispheres.

– Your brain has four waves, Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta, and everything we do falls into one of these categories. We move from one state to another throughout the day.

– The optimal performance flow zone only exists when the two halves of our brain are in balance, without distractions, without analysis and without anxiety.

your brain mechanism

Your brain works on a goal-setting mechanism and you can think of it as a connection machine, it connects everything. The more solid the concept is in your brain, the better you will master it. Just like in bowling, the better your brain connects your bowling ability with your mental strength, the easier it will be to get into the Optimum Performance Flow Zone.

The brain sets goals, this is the creativity function of your right brain, then breaks down the steps to achieve the goal, these are the analytical and logical functions of your left brain. Bowlers universally have the same goals, it’s the perfect game of bowling and winning as many tournaments as possible. The brain grasps the goal and then goes about figuring out how to achieve it.

The best bowler in the world may not necessarily be the most physically talented, although he does know how to best manipulate his brain.

Left and Right Brain Inactive Bowler

Let’s take a look at how left-brain or right-brain-dominant bowlers hamper their performance.

A lot of bowlers I’ve seen are right brain dominant, their motor skills for performance are there, they find it easy to get into their game, they don’t think too much. Their battle begins when they begin to lose sense of where they are in their driveways and forget what they are working for. The shooter throws a ball that lets the pressure pass and doesn’t know how to structure an over or a spell, they are regulars under winners, they get off to good starts and yet they can’t handle their tackles or their spells.

In contrast, bowlers who dominate the left side of the brain tend to overthink their game and eventually become paralyzed by overanalyzing what they need to accomplish. Their performance is hampered by analytical self-talk, anxiety, and interrupted focus. These bowlers tend to struggle to quiet their minds and focus them. They just find it difficult to forget their past and change their focus.

Brain Synchrony

World class bowlers have learned to balance the right and left brain and manipulate it to their advantage. They learned how to select their targets, break them into small sequential chunks, and then keep a calm mind so they could bowl in the Flow Zone of Optimal Performance.

The Challenge is to manage their mental state so they can manage their game.

The key for the bowler is that he must learn to manipulate his brain naturally and effortlessly to maintain an optimal state of balance between mind and body.

When your right and left brains work together in sync, you can think clearly and calmly, make good decisions, and set and complete your goals.

Brain synchrony is the goal of all bowlers to reach the flow zone of optimal performance.
