Yamaha FZ16 – Yamaha’s 160cc Super Cool Street Fighter Motorcycle!

Nicknamed the Lord of the Streets, the Yamaha FZ16 reflects a spicy and beautiful look in its three colors: Flaming Red, Orange and Midnight Black. Designed in the previous version of the FZ series, the motorcycle’s appeal is further enhanced by its multi-reflector headlights and plastic resin molded fuel tank. However, it is the license plate on the front that distorts the look of the Yamaha FZ16 and is a bit awkward. Also, one has to look for the fuel cock, as it is positioned slightly downwards.

This street fighter is powered by a 153 cc, two valve, air-cooled SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) engine that reaches a maximum torque of 14 Nm at 6000 rpm and generates a power of 14 hp at 7500 rpm. This particular Yamaha FZ16 motorcycle is different and is definitely aimed at different segments of bike enthusiasts in a price range of Rs. 70,000-Rs.75,000.

The weight distribution of the bike is good and with monocross suspension it improves stability, allows greater agility and guarantees comfort. The tires on the Yamaha FZ16 are huge and again it is also equipped with a 267mm front disc brake with twin calipers and drum brakes at the rear. However, Yamaha could have also added disc brake at the rear as it could have further improved the bike’s characteristics.

The Yamaha FZ 16 is expected to perform well on Indian roads with the lowest emission of gases. The mileage is low, albeit at about 35 kmpl, but there were some sacrifices in mileage to give a pickup; style and power is the only thing that matters when someone wants to ride the Lord of the streets and the Yamaha FZ16 is way ahead of its competitors in that regard. A respite even for them is the Yamaha brand, and with the FZ16, Yamaha returned to the market in force.
