A fighting spirit for tennis

In this article I would like to talk about the fighting spirit in tennis. This is the only method I know of that you can use to stay mentally strong in tennis.

Face it, tennis is a tough sport and it is a mental sport.

Tennis will test your character as a person, but the good thing about it is that you will be able to build a stronger one while playing the sport. The first step in this “development of fighting spirit” is learning to deal with failures and setbacks, mentally recovering as soon as possible. You can do this if you don’t take it personally.

A game doesn’t have to define your career, right?

See, by focusing on our failures most of the time, we keep that dark memory etched into our subconscious minds all the time, and reliving it over and over again is really mental suicide for many young players, because they are killing themselves. -Image over and over again when you revive it.

Discovering your own fighting spirit is actually fighting for your own self-control, which means that you will do everything possible to stay away from thoughts that will weaken your mental game. Do it for a day first, then continue for a week, after a month, you will feel stronger. The secret that few tennis players understand is that they are really the ones who are holding back. Try to be aware of your thoughts daily and ask yourself this key question.

“How will thinking this way affect my energy?”

I’m talking about the Law of Substitution here. Every time a negative or failure thought comes into your mind, throw it out and then replace it with one that gives you more power.

The next step is to start playing each point with a do or die attitude in practice, players think they can turn this mentality on and off but they can’t. Practices make perfect, so start with practice, then you can let it carry over into your match play. This is how Champions mentally train daily on and off the pitch.

That’s what separates them from the rest of the players on tour, they want to be the best and they know that a fighting spirit comes from playing at a certain high level all the time and that’s the only way to get there. Finding your inner fighting spirit is a journey.

Good luck!
