Combining The Five Elements With Numerology

Some Western numerology systems focus on all four elements. Namely, Air, Earth, Fire and Water. However, Chinese metaphysical systems focus on five elements, which are Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. This article is intended to serve as a brief introduction to the concept of combining the Five Elements with Numerology as taught by Dr. Oliver Tan, the founder and master teacher of his numerology course, the ‘Power of Numbers’ (PON ).

As we all know, there are also many different Chinese systems that make use of the Five Elements, such as feng shui, luo shu, Flying Stars, etc., and the specific elements associated with each number are different. Being able to distinguish the different systems and not mix them up is important as each system has its own rules and will lead to giving them a different meaning. It could even be contradictory and can be disastrous if applied incorrectly.

The unique system that will be mentioned below was created by Dr. Oliver Tan. What he discovered was that the root numbers 1 and 6 are associated with the Metal element, 2 and 7 with the Water element, 3 and 8 with the Fire element, 4 and 9 to the element Wood and the root number 5 is associated with the element earth. The numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 are Yin (small) in nature and 6, 7, 8 and 9 are Yang (big) in nature. The number 5 (earth) is a balance in that it has Yin and Yang elements.

Since the Five Elements also correspond to the organs of our body from the point of view of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Possible health symptoms of a person can be identified. It means that symptoms such as cardiovascular disease, insomnia, forgetfulness, or other symptoms that affect the heart, pericardium, and/or small intestine MAY be experienced by a person whose root number is 3.

It won’t be possible to explain the entire concept of the Five Elements in this article, but basically, just keep in mind that there are 3 main cycles. that is, 1) the productive cycle (enhancing), 2) the debilitating cycle (reducing), 3) the controlling cycle.

Search online for images and resources of the 3 main elemental cycles in association with the organs of the body to get a clearer picture. Drawing from a person’s birth chart and annual personal chart, Dr. Oliver Tan will teach you how to identify and be alert to prevent unfortunate health-related incidents from occurring. The fundamental objective remains to harmonize the elements to create a holistic health and well-being of a person.
