A Review of Sorelle Convertible Cribs

Sorelle is not your run-of-the-mill manufacturer. The company has been making beautiful cribs for over 30 years and remains a family business to this day. What best sums up the qualities of a Sorelle crib are the beautiful designs, superb craftsmanship, attention to detail, and materials that will literally last a lifetime.

If you want real quality and something that will stand the test of time, then you should seriously consider Sorelle. There are very few other manufacturers that can match their cribs in terms of build quality and stylish design; Pali, Munire, and Basset cribs are just a handful that can offer cribs that are as good.

An increasingly popular crib option is the convertible model. Its versatility and long-term cost savings are really attractive, and many parents love the overall elegant look of this type of crib. Sorelle convertible cribs come in 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 versions, with the latter being the most popular, as this type can convert from a crib to a toddler bed, from a day bed to a full-size bed; it’s designed to last your child a lifetime, and Sorelle’s are built with the best materials and workmanship so they can be passed down to the next generation.

One of my personal favorites is the Sorelle Cottage 4-in-1. Its overall look and understated styling mean it could fit just as well in a modern nursery or one that harkens back to earlier times. The shafts are smooth and square-edged. Likewise, the footboard is straight and the headboard is made with a simple boiserie. The crossbar rail is curved, which softens its overall appearance. The finish is in white or French white.

The Hamptons is another understated and elegant convertible crib from Sorelle. It’s reminiscent of the American Colonial style: straight, simple spindles, with straight foot and head rails. Although it is available in Autumn and Candle Light finishes, this crib looks best in a Cherry finish in my opinion.

The Mara 3-in-1 is a very handsome sleigh crib and comes with a storage drawer underneath, though perhaps its most distinctive feature is that it sits on beavers, making it easy to move around. I often wonder why most convertible cribs don’t. I come with beavers; this is heavy furniture and moving it is not always easy.

If you’re looking for something more ornate, then the Regal could be the perfect choice. Despite having straight head and foot rails, the fluted legs give this piece a grand appearance (by the way, the Munire Newport crib has very similar details – you should definitely compare the two). Also, unlike the previous models discussed so far, the Regal Crib comes with mini rails, however the adult rails are still an optional extra. As expected with this ‘grander style’, the finishes are in dark rich woods; Autumn, Cherry and Espresso.

But, for those who want all the romance, Sorelle Anne’s Lace is a must. Ornate details include raised leaf designs on the top of the legs and on the headboard. Running along the foot and lateral bottom rail is a very nice bootie and loop design. The crib comes in only one finish: French White and it looks divine.

Sorelle Convertible Cribs are beautiful baby furniture that few manufacturers can match. It’s true that Bassett and Munire cribs offer convertible cribs that are just as beautiful and well made, but in comparable pieces, Sorelle is cheaper and just as well made, in my opinion.
