Wet-to-dry irons are quickly becoming the most popular type. Not having to dry your hair before straightening saves time and is much less of a hassle. Both Corioliss and T3 make straighteners for wet or dry hair, but is one better than the other?
We will be comparing the T3 Tourmaline 1.75″ Wet to Dry flat iron against the Corioliss, you can also get a T3 Tourmaline with 1″ plates, but Corioliss only ships with 1.75″ plates.
Both irons use tourmaline plates and have ceramic far-infrared heating systems. They also have other similarities. First of all, Corioliss looks a lot like T3. Both have vents on the outside of the straps to allow steam and excess water to escape. The on/off switch and temperature controls are located in the same position.

Price
The Corioliss Wet to Dry is more expensive than the T3 Tourmaline: around $10-15 at time of writing. A savings of a few dollars might be a consideration for some.
heating time
Both heat up in seconds and both let you know when the plates have reached their optimum temperature. In a series of by no means exhaustive tests, the Corioliss seemed to heat up a little faster than the T3, but a saving of a second or two isn’t much of a difference. The maximum temperature of the T3 flat iron is 410 F. The Corioliss maximum temperature setting is a little higher at 430 F. Both irons have variable temperature control so you can set the heat to be just right for your hair. . Finally, both are very good at keeping the temperature constant.
power cord
The power cord is an important consideration. Using a hair straightener can be uncomfortable, especially when straightening at the back. Therefore, the cable must be flexible and long enough to reach the rear. Both straighteners come with swivel cords. The T3 outperforms the Corioliss in terms of length; The Corioliss hair straightener comes with a 7-foot cord, but you get an extra 2 feet with the T3 straightener.
Weight
Another important consideration; what seems like a lightweight appliance at first can seem downright heavy when you’ve been using it for 30 minutes. The T3 hair straightener weighs 1.33 pounds, but the Corioliss beats it in this department, weighing in at just 0.85 pounds.
Hair straightening
Both products, if used correctly, give more or less the same results, which is to be expected when both straighteners look nearly identical, use the same tourmaline plates, have variable heat settings, and similar plate widths. On this basis, you would probably be thinking: save me 10 bucks and buy the T3. But wait a second.
On the Folica website they have posted a notice about T3 Tourmaline: “Please note that many of our customers have reported difficulties in obtaining warranty service for this product.”
Warranty is a very important consideration when purchasing any appliance. Therefore, the Corioliss Wet to Dry iron will probably be a better and probably safer purchase than the T3 Tourmaline iron.
