Denials, lies and tiredness, don’t make the pandemic go away!

Every day, it seems, there is another article or report that indicates that many, around the world, are suffering from pandemic fatigue! After so many months, it is natural, many would be sick – and – tired, of living with public health restrictions, but shouldn’t common sense tell us, it is better to feel this way than to get sick? , I’m worse? In the United States, where, with less than 5% of the world’s population, we have suffered, with more than 20% of, both the cases and deaths related to the pandemic, different states and regions, have approached, this situation , differently. In other nations, there has been a national policy regarding restrictions, wearing of masks and, in general, public health policy, but, in this country, we have not witnessed a national policy, but different approaches / philosophies. Although, some of this occurs, due to partisan politics, and / or, following the call, lead, or perspective / agenda, of President Trump, to some extent, some Americans have bought from, the constant denials, lies and fatigue, and have minimized the dangers, risks, ramifications, etc. of this horrible virus. However, the reality is that these factors do not make the pandemic go away. With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review and discuss, 5 aspects involved, etc.

1. Denials and statements / Trump rhetoric, etc. From the beginning, it seems, President Trump has downplayed, denied or believed that this virus would go away and his approach would benefit him and his agenda. What kind of example do you set when the leader of the free world minimizes risks, refuses to wear a mask, and claims to know better than public health professionals / experts?

2. Health / public life, versus populist rhetoric: How can anyone try to appeal to the evangelists, and, who, by affirming, believe in protecting the sanctity of life, while articulating a message, minimizing the risks, and proclaiming the financial costs, closing costs, etc., out – weigh, health problems? Then more than 8 million cases, and around 230,000 desks, you might think, people would realize that it is our personal / social responsibility, and common sense, to wear a mask, to use social distancing / spacing, and to exhibit responsibility. Social. !

3. Common / Greater Good, or. self-interest / impatience: While some degree of impatience is understandable after so long, shouldn’t respect for the common good outweigh perceived self-interest?

Four. Burying your head, in the sand: When we try to bury – your – head, in the sand, it doesn’t make the pandemic go away! Personally, I have more faith, in the advice, of the experts / scientists in public health, than in any politician, especially one, whose narrative, seems to be constantly changing!

5. Tired of the hassles: How often have we heard some of us complain about the inconvenience, saying, it’s time, to start living, our lives, again? It is understandable, the businessmen, the most affected, would show this attitude, but, throughout the world, and in this nation, we have already witnessed, when the reopening policy, is based on emotion, and the economy, more than the public health, another arises, occurs!

While no one should blame this president for the emergence of the virus, he should be held accountable for his response, or the lack of a viable strategy, from the start! We have seen studies that indicate that we have witnessed far more cases and deaths than we would have had if the advice of public health experts, rather than politics, etc., were followed.
