God of War Ascension game review and what to expect in the game

For those of you who have followed the legendary Kratos saga, most of God of War looks and feels the same. The game has the same amount of blood and violence that you have come to know and love in the franchise. Incredibly brutal murders are carried out. Weapons can be ripped from enemies and used to destroy enemies around you. You will also be tasked with taking down giant enemies quickly and strategically, just as you have done in previous games. In addition to this you can also do something that has not been done before in God of War and that is to participate in multiplayer mode.

In this mode you will fight against other opponents and defeat giant enemies like in the campaign. This sounds like fun, but some people may be disappointed that Kratos will not be participating in multiplayer. That’s right, Kratos is just one of many Gods of War: Ascension characters that you will be able to use. When you are participating in multiplayer, you will have the option of using a Spartan who has pledged allegiance to one of the four gods. With that promise, the character gains certain weapons and perks that other characters will not receive. The game makes this transition from Kratos to another Spartan easy, as your new character has the same abilities to break bones and destroy creatures as the original God of War.

When it comes to skills like fighting and exploring God of War: Ascension, the game stays true to the way the other games in the franchise are played. You can expect to run and jump a lot using recently acquired weapons to help you navigate the terrain. You’ll also fight creatures and use the simple, albeit cinematic, combat mechanics that have made God of War games so much fun to play. The puzzles aren’t terribly difficult, but some of them may require a bit of thought to get through. In terms of gameplay, God of War: Ascension feels more of the same, but that’s definitely a good thing in this area of the game.

Although there is a lot of emphasis on the new multiplayer mode in God of War: Ascension, the single player campaign has not been neglected. This game is a prequel and it tells the player all about God of War and how Kratos ascended to the state of God.

Don’t expect to face Gods and Titans like you have in previous God of War games. Ascension takes things to a more human level. Although your opponents will not be members of Mount Olympus, that does not mean that they will be easier to fight. The enemies will remain incredibly large and will have abilities that will make the game as challenging and fun as it has been in the past. The God of War: Ascension game release date is supposed to be March 2013, so look forward to it then.
