How to use neat idea cubes as rabbit cages

Are you planning to buy a cage for your rabbit, but find that the cost of a normal rabbit cage is a bit expensive? I had a similar problem in the past. I asked some of my friends who had rabbits for advice and they said that I should try creating my own rabbit cage with the use of Neat Idea Cubes or NICs.

NICs are hard-wired squares that are used to make cubes. The cubes are usually stacked side by side and on top of each other to serve as an inexpensive means of storage space. The idea sparked an interest in me because buying and assembling these cage cubes would cost me much less than buying a normal cage.

The first thing to do if you want to build a NIC box is to buy the NIC. These can be found at stores like Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. You should also purchase a roll of electrical tape that you will use to attach the cubes. The package comes with connectors, but these do not hold the cube well enough.

You also need to buy a floor, so that your rabbit does not keep going into the holes in his cage on the grill. Make sure you buy enough racks so that the cage you will build will be at least four times the size of your rabbit when he is older. This may take some guesswork if your rabbit is still small. But bigger is always better.

Note that you will also need to purchase a latch that you can install on one of the grilles. This grill will then serve as the cage door. It would be best to have one or two people to help you while you build your cage. The cage will appear unstable at first, but it will be solid once you are done tying up all the racks and securely laying the flooring.

If you are looking to buy affordable and reliable rabbit cages, you should start shopping and assembling NICs now.
