The New York Jets have had great players at quarterback over the years. Sometimes with positive results and sometimes with a less than stellar result. Here’s a look at some interesting and little-known facts about the quarterbacks who have dressed for the New York Jets over the years.

-Frank Reich threw 18 career TD assists during his 10 seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He came close to surpassing that during his one season with the Jets when he threw 15 touchdown passes.

-The first playoff touchdown pass thrown by a Jets quarterback was a 20-yard pass in the third quarter from Joe Namath to receiver Pete Lammons in a 27-23 win over the Oakland Raiders in 1968.

-Richard Todd leads all Jets quarterbacks in career rushing yards with 821.

-Vinny Testaverde’s 27-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver Laveranues Coles in a 2005 game against the New England Patriots was the last touchdown pass thrown in a Monday Night Football game broadcast on ABC.

-The New York Jets had a completely different passing leader each year from 1995 to 1999. In 1995 it was Boomer Esiason, in 1996 it was Frank Reich, 1997 had Neil O’Donnell, 1998 saw Vinny Testaverde take the pass leader position passes, and the 1999 leader was Ray Lucas.

-In a week 14 loss to the New York Giants in 1984, Ken O’Brien threw for 351 yards. This is the most passing yards accumulated in a game by a rookie Jets quarterback.

-Although he chose to play in the American Football League with the Jets who drafted him, Joe Namath was also selected in the National Football League draft, where he was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals.
