You can’t read a newspaper or magazine or turn on the television or radio without receiving a constant barrage of bad news about the economy. Let’s face it, it’s getting pretty rough out there.
What’s happening? Gas prices, inflation, unemployment, food prices, crime, gas and electric prices, taxes, mortgages, home repossessions, bankruptcies – that’s what’s up!
What crashed? Stock market, house prices, banks, your purchasing power, value of the pound, wages…
It’s hard to remember a more troubling or darker moment. Small Business Profit seems about as likely as winning the lottery. And while the phrase “Credit Crunch” sounds like a new breakfast cereal, the reality is that people and businesses are about to go through a couple of years of financial hell.
Some business owners are borrowing more (if their bank will let them!) just to keep their business running, and some have had enough and thrown in the towel.
It’s Bloodbath Britain, despite what Brown and company would like us to believe. (Have you noticed that the ones who are well protected financially are the ones with the audacity to go on TV and tell us it’s all about “resets for the foreseeable future”?)
This current situation is extremely dire for most small and medium business owners. So what is there to do?
First of all, you can sit back and dream that “tomorrow it could be better, it just can’t get any worse.”
Second, you can put your hands up now and go and do something else, that is, if there is something available to do.
Third, can you turn to good luck charms? Prayer? Extra lottery tickets?

You can grab this opportunity by the back of the neck and attack the market you are in! Yes, we said “opportunity”.
Let me explain: most business owners are tired, worn out by darkness and doom. Most will sit back and cross their fingers, hoping they’ll wake up and realize it was all a bad dream. And sadly, because they sat down, many will be forced to give up in the not too distant future.

Yes, it is a difficult decision, but we are in very difficult times. And you need to be a little “Spock Like” to do it, yes, we mean Spock’s fame from Star Trek: big ears, a lot of cold reasoning and no emotion.
