Strollers at Disney World: Little Kids, Little Legacy, BIG PROBLEM!

If you’re bringing your kids to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, you’ve got a big problem on your hands. If your kids are young enough, even if they generally walk just fine on their own, the chances of them managing the miles of walking through the theme park complex are slim to none. You will probably need a stroller. Of course, the thought has crossed your mind, “why can’t I just bring a stroller?” However, flying with strollers is a huge pain and expensive. So what are your other options?

buy a stroller

This in itself may not seem like a challenge, after all, Walt Disney must offer strollers for rent. They do: $18 for a single stroller and $31 per day for a double stroller. You can rent a car for the same price. Actually, it’s not a bad idea. Rent a car, drive yourself to a Wal-Mart, buy a new stroller, and use it. You can get a simple umbrella stroller for $20.

The frustrating thing about buying a stroller is that a.) You’re buying something you don’t really need; b.) What do you do with it when you finish?; and c.) To get a stroller that offers the comfort factors you need, you would have to spend more than $20. First note that a single stroller ($18) for 5 days is $90 and a double stroller ($31) is $155. So in truth, as long as his stroller costs less than that, he is saving money. Also, you are buying something that you need in a temporary sense. As for what to do with the stroller afterward, sell it at a yard sale or thrift store, or better yet, sell it to another parent struggling with the price of a Disney stroller rental on their last day of vacation. .

Rent a stroller off site

If you are someone who loves the simplicity of total convenience, an off-site rental offers the ultimate in convenience. For an additional $70, if you reserve your stroller in advance, you can have it delivered to your hotel room and picked up when you’re done with your magical vacation. It will be roomy and convenient, and you can use it outside of the Disney theme parks, unlike a stroller you’d rent at Walt Disney. The only downside to this stroller is having to store it in your hotel room.

Rent a stroller at Disney

Although it is more expensive to rent a stroller from Walt Disney, there are some advantages to doing so. The first is that they are very convenient. You can pick one up when you enter the park and drop it off when you leave, without taking it on the bus or keeping it in your hotel room. The second is that they are very well made: plastic, spacious and shaded with lots of little nooks and cubbies for storage. The third is that this may be the best option for you if you have older children who get a little tired after a long day. Disney strollers are big enough for bigger toddlers and cost-effective if you don’t need one all day during your vacation, maybe just at night to watch the fireworks at Epcot or on their Animal Kingdom Safari.
