This is what I do to get my audio interview transcribed. I have a wonderful transcriptionist that I met at Elance. I remember I needed to transcribe a lot of audios, probably six years ago, I posted an ad, I met a lady named Trish, who is in the south, and she has been transcribing my audio about 90% of the time.
I pay him around $ 60 for an hour of audio. So if I give him an edited audio recording that is one hour long or an edited interview that is one hour long, he will transcribe it word for word. She doesn’t edit, she just transcribes it word for word.
Then he will send me a transcript in Microsoft Word and I have a template for it. She puts the footer and the header and she will give it back to me.
I have been very lucky to have a reliable transcriptionist who has been with me for years.
When starting your audio interview business, you will also want to team up and find reliable people and as long as you pay them and they do their job and they are both happy, before they know it … I can’t believe it’s been five Or six years, maybe seven years, she’s been doing the transcription work for me and that’s how my whole team is.
My other assistant is Diane. He has been helping me for four and a half years.
You will need to build a team if you want to take this seriously as a business.
You have to understand that it is time or money. So as your time shrinks you may need to invest in your business and invest in outsourcing to do a lot of this for you and I think it’s a great way to do it if you have the money to do it.
