Will you give your marriage a second chance?

Our hearts skip a beat when you hear your friend tell you that your husband was seen leaving a motel with a woman from his job. A minute ago you were happy and getting ready to meet your husband to see a new car. How could your life change so dramatically over a cup of coffee with a friend?

For those of you who have experienced the excruciating pain of a husband or wife having an affair, if I tell you that it is possible to go ahead and repair the marriage it may fall on deaf ears. You are probably wondering how it would be possible to trust them again. The truth is that anything is possible if both of you are prepared to work together. An affair can often be a reaction to a major problem within the marriage. Have they become too accommodating to each other or maybe the romance has gone out of the marriage? The reason you got married in the first place is because you were madly in love and could see a future of true happiness. Unfortunately, the dizzying heights associated with being in love are not always matched by smooth sailing in a marriage.

How can a broken marriage be repaired after an affair? By giving your marriage a second chance. If you still love and believe in each other, you can weather this perfect storm. It will be very difficult to deal with the feeling that you have been betrayed, but can you honestly say that the blame lies on one side? Unless you’ve been unlucky enough to marry a serial cheater, people don’t have an affair for no reason. Although it hurts like hell, ask yourself what could have caused your partner to walk away from you in such a way. Sure you could get mad and kick them out the door or you could be an adult and get to the bottom of it. Marriage has become a revolving door where couples who can’t deal with their problems opt to divorce and move on. What if they tried to solve it instead? Standing in front of each other and speaking from the heart. Why is it so difficult for us humans? Is it any wonder there are so many wars in this world? You’d think we’d already learned that open discussion and a genuine desire to understand the other person’s point of view would be all that mattered.

Before you throw your marriage away, give it a second chance. As people we are vulnerable and we make mistakes. Is your husband or wife worth that effort and worth a second chance?
