Favorite Restaurant Recipe Imitations: It’s the Small Bites You Crave

When most people think of restaurant recipe clones, big flashy dishes come to mind. We love being able to make our favorite dishes at home, like Alice Springs Chicken from Outback or Macaroni Grill’s Past Milano.

But so often it’s the little extras that we remember from our favorite restaurants and find ourselves craving at the strangest of times. Those condiments and garnishes like Red Lobster’s tartar sauce and cheddar biscuits, KFC’s coleslaw, or Applebees’ desserts.

One of the best things about being able to make your favorite restaurant recipes at home is that you can make only the parts of the meal that you fancy. So being able to use a restaurant’s garnishes or seasonings with any home-cooked meal is a doddle. You can combine the restaurant’s treats with their homemade specialties whenever you want. Last year the huge bowl of Red Lobster Tarter Sauce I made for our family fish fry reunion (Walley from Lake Erie, yum!) and it was a huge hit. And I’ve made the Cheddar Biscuits several times for breakfast.

A quick Google search reveals that I’m not the only one who loves to do this.

And since I can make a heaping batch at any time, why limit myself to just fishing? I can make some Big Boy tartar sauce to spread on a burger like they do at the restaurant. Or use it in any other way I please. The recipe easily makes 3 cups.

Thanks to Copycat Restaurant Recipes, I can satisfy my craving almost anytime at home without having to go to Red Lobster or Big Boy and buy a full dinner.
